A Simple Explanation
Thursday, June 25th radio program.
Hello Dr. Laura - So often, we seek to understand what it means to be a man or a woman — not only in the biological and sexual sense, but also in the broader philosophical and spiritual realms. It is a vast topic, centered on both competition and conflict.
We try to explain how and why these differences affect behavior and attitudes, both publicly and privately, within an ethical framework. These distinctions matter deeply. What perspective might help clarify why opposites do, and perhaps must, attract?
Although simplistic and basic, the following idea illustrates how true human value can emerge through the interaction of opposites — wherein the “profane” is transformed into the sacred: from a basic, animalistic sexual interaction into the creation of a unique human being.
~ The male role represents the loud and the profane: an open, “active” biological imperative toward orgasm that drives its function.
~ The female role represents the quiet and the sacred: no similarly “active” biological imperative toward orgasm is required for reproduction to function. It is an enclosed, essentially “passive” mechanism.
Picture innumerable spermatozoa arriving suddenly in frenzied, chaotic motion; then a single ovum, slowly traveling in silence, alone and dignified.
Then —
Something of infinite value begins when these two disparate mechanisms collide and combine. Their opposite natures fuse. The miracle and power of motherhood begin their work, while the father proudly takes his place to provide and protect with devotion.
You cannot get more sacred than that.
Warm regards to the entire team,
Michele
