A Thank You...
Thursday, July 30th radio program.
Dear Dr. Laura, I am writing to thank you for the guidance you’ve given me through some of the biggest decisions I’ve made recently.
I was in a dead-end relationship with a limp dick. Even though I knew it, I kept making excuses and justifying the situation. Then I heard you speaking to another woman who was in a similar position, and your advice was so clear.
You said that resentment doesn’t go away in situations with a limp dick—it grows. You explained that there are only three choices: forgive everything and accept him as he is, leave, or stay and let the resentment continue to grow.
That hit me like a ton of bricks.
After everything I had done for an ungrateful man and his children, I was left feeling unappreciated and unsupported in my own goals and ambitions.
So, after our 10-year anniversary, I ended the relationship. We were never married—perhaps because, deep down, I anticipated this possibility. The steps that followed were logistically difficult, but they were the right ones.
I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter if doing the right thing is hard. What matters is that it’s the right thing to do.
I have no regrets. My finances and living situation aren’t completely back on track yet, but I have been surrounded by supportive friends and family, and my future is bright.
Thank you for your constant reminders and your willingness to keep advising people. I hope you know that you impact far more people than those you speak to directly. I am just one of many.
Keep up the good work, and as you always say, go do the right thing.
Sincerely,
Germaine
