* Free Email of the Day 💌 * Your Words Shifted Something for Me
Read on the Tuesday, April 7th radio program.
Dear Dr. Laura, I was listening to your program the other day when you spoke about grief and the loss of someone you care about. I want to begin by saying how sorry I am for the loss of your dear friend.
Your words about gratitude truly resonated with me. Your friend passed doing what he loved, surrounded by the people he loved.
I lost my mom suddenly 15 years ago when I was 35. She was my best friend—completely irreplaceable in my life. I treasured her deeply. She brought me so much joy, offered guidance when I needed it, and was as steady and dependable as anyone could be. I am profoundly grateful for the time I had with her.
I won’t go into the depth of the grief I’ve experienced over these past 15 years, as I’m sure you can imagine. But I wanted to share that your words shifted something for me. For so long, I focused on the loss—how sudden it was and how young she was at just 62.
After hearing your words, I find myself looking at her passing in a new light. She passed peacefully at home, and I am beginning to recognize that there is more to be grateful for than I had allowed myself to see before.
Thank you for that perspective.
Sincerely,
Tara
