Happy To See It

Hi Dr. Laura, I’m two years younger than you—just a kid. My wife and I discovered you when you were in your late 20s or early 30s on WHO AM radio in Des Moines, Iowa. We were impressed with your morals back then, and in today’s world, which often seems largely amoral, you are still a candle in the darkness.

We have been married for 52 years. I married a 24-year-old virgin, and she married a 24-year-old man who was trying to change his life to conform to moral standards.

We raised a daughter who was taught to respect morality, and it was interesting to watch her question potential suitors—often more like interrogations than conversations. She married at around 26 years old, also a virgin, and the man she ultimately chose was also a virgin and a year or two older than she was. They have now been married for more than 20 years and are very happy.

We are people who are quite different from most. Our language is clean, and we associate with others who share our values.

I’m pleased to see that you are now on YouTube, as your counsel will continue to influence people far into the future—if they are willing to seek it out.

Our courtship lasted months, not years, and you would probably frown on that. However, I believe that long courtships can encourage premarital sex and cohabitation. We can agree to disagree on that.

Thank you for being a light. We’ve never had to call your show, but we’re happy to have found you again on SiriusXM and still appreciate your steadfast stand for common sense.

Keep it going as long as you can, kiddo. As long as there is light, there is hope.
