I Appreciate Your Advocacy for Children and Families

Dear Dr. Laura, I’ve been noticing a contrast between the attitudes of my stepson and my late stepdad. My stepson claims to have had a bad childhood. I don’t remember it being bad, but it’s not my story to tell. I remember him being very spoiled, not well disciplined, and often hard to be around. We aren’t speaking now, and my son and he aren’t speaking either. It’s a long story, and not something I need to call in about because it’s a closed chapter. Still, I can’t help noticing that at 36, with a family of his own, he is still complaining about his childhood instead of focusing on his blessings.
