No. I don’t believe all marriages should be saved. Definitely not the destructive or dangerous ones. But there are many damaged relationships that warrant repair more than divorce. I believe most divorce is unnecessary, and that’s the focus of this week’s Deep Dive podcast.
The scientific literature continues to support that a good three quarters of people who divorce come to regret it. Maybe not immediately, but years later, after the papers have been signed, the property divided, the child custody settled, and after a lot of suffering, they feel, “I probably should never have done it.” How sad is that?
