Navigating the Terrible Teens with Dr. Laura’s Help
Read on the Wednesday, Apr 16th radio program.
I wanted to share how your wisdom is helping me through a challenge with my high school senior son. When I realized our son seemed withdrawn and “off,” I knew I needed to push to find out what was wrong. I told him that we loved him, wanted to help him and that whatever was eating away at him wouldn’t stop until he shared it with his dad and me. It finally came out that he had been getting drunk and smoking pot with friends at sleepovers. He cried and asked for help, convinced he had a drinking problem. We limited his interactions with that crowd, started monitoring him more and got him set up with AA and a counselor.
