Thank You for the Lasting Impact on My Family
Thursday, May 7th radio program.
Dear Dr. Schlessinger - You are to be credited for bringing my wife home to raise our two children, now ages 37 and 32.
Back in the late 1980s, I found you on AM radio out of Mobridge, South Dakota, while conducting business in the area. You were one of the reasons I looked forward to traveling there.
At the time, my wife, who incidentally is much sharper than I am, was employed and on her way to the top of her field. She was not keen on leaving the workforce as a woman of the 1990s, but was finally persuaded to do so. It was also difficult financially.
It took some time, and it was only after our daughter had spent several years in daycare. Daycare is the only place our daughter ever received a spanking.
Bringing my wife home was tough, given that she was a professional woman of the 1990s and considering the attitudes of the time. I believe you have been instrumental in changing so much of our culture in that regard.
Time passed, she adjusted, and relished motherhood. Within a few years, I rose to the top of my field, so the financial burden was lifted. Fortunately, our son never saw the inside of a daycare.
Thank you.
Unfortunately, I did lose you for a number of years. I could have benefited from listening to you, but I am pleased I rediscovered you on SiriusXM.
I wanted to call, but knew I would get emotional.
Sincerely,
KD
