Thank You for Your Help
Read on the Wednesday, June 24th radio program.
Hi Dr. Laura, A note of thanks. I remember being a child and hearing your show with my mom. Now I’m 38, and I listen with my 10-year-old daughter.
The other day, I heard an episode about a son leaving homeschooling and gymnastics in which you discussed decision-making. You said not to look at a decision as right or wrong, but instead to ask whether it is good.
I’ve had a career for 15 years now, and truthfully, I’ve had some regrets along the way. Recently, I was presented with an opportunity for a promotion. It would have meant more hours and more time away from home. I felt the cultural and company pressure to continue moving up in my career, but internally, I wanted to put time with my husband and daughter first.
I declined the job.
I was struggling with the push and pull of it because it felt wrong for my career but right for my family. Now I realize that what matters most is that the decision, overall, was good.
You’ve helped me tremendously in so many other ways as well.
Thank you,
Kristen
