The Topic of Religion and Faith

Dr. Laura - Recently, I was listening to your show when you were speaking with the woman who wanted to leave the Mormon Church. What you said resonated deeply with me.
I recently returned to the Mormon Church after 40 years away. Over the years, I tried many different churches, and you were right—there is always going to be something, or someone, that frustrates you or with whom you disagree. I am so glad you encouraged her to stay.
My biggest regret in life is not raising my son in the church. I always said he could make that choice for himself. Well, he never made that choice, and now, at 35, he is an atheist who has decided he is a woman. (You have helped me so much through this as well. I realize now that it is his life, and I love him anyway. I make sure to treat him with kindness so I can continue to see my granddaughter.)
I have found that I love the church and the sense of community it provides. I have also decided that I do not have to believe everything, but for me, I find the most meaning in this particular church.
I hope and pray that she chooses to stay for the sake of her family.
Thank you so much for your wisdom. I love you so much!
Anna
